Job description
Your assignment
We're building the next generation of behavioral research tools, and we want AI to be at the heart of them. That's where you come in.
As our AI / LLM intern, you'll help us design and build smart, helpful agents that guide our customers through Noldus software, both on our website and inside the product itself. You'll work on two exciting applications:
1. A customer-facing AI agent (web & sales support)
You'll help build a chat agent that answers product questions, helps potential customers find the right solution, and knows when to hand off to a human colleague. It pulls in real customer data and documentation to give useful, context-aware responses, and can even summarize previous conversations in a clear, friendly way.
2. An in-product intelligent assistant
You'll also help integrate an AI assistant into our new browser-based research platform, one that proactively guides users, helps them troubleshoot issues, and clearly explains what it's doing and why. Think of it as a friendly co-pilot for scientists.
What you'll be doing
You won't just be writing code in a corner, you'll be involved end-to-end, and your input really matters:
• Design and build LLM-based agent architecture based on real business needs
• Work with RAG (retrieval-augmented generation) and structured knowledge sources
• Integrate agents into web and product environments
• Make sure the AI behaves safely and predictably (guardrails, validation)
• Develop explainability features so users always know what the AI is doing
• Set up pilots and evaluate them with real-world use cases
• Collaborate closely with our AI, UX, Sales Enablement, and Customer Success teams
There's plenty of room to bring your own ideas, suggest improvements, and take ownership of your work.
What you'll learn
By the end of this internship, you'll have real, hands-on experience with:
• Building production-ready LLM applications, not just toy projects
• Designing AI assistants that help real people
• Working at the exciting intersection of AI, UX, and product development
• Applying AI in a scientific, impact-driven environment
Job requirements
What we're looking for
You don't need to know everything, curiosity and enthusiasm go a long way here. Ideally, you:
• Are studying Computer Science, AI, Data Science, or a related field (MSc or final-year BSc)
• Have some experience with Python and modern AI tools (e.g. LangChain, LangGraph, vector databases like Pinecone or Weaviate, FastAPI)
• Have played around with LLMs (Claude, OpenAI, Gemini, or open-source models) and know the basics of prompt engineering
• Are comfortable with APIs or web technologies, or excited to learn
• Are interested in how people interact with software (usability, human behavior), a plus!
• Like to take initiative, think analytically, and experiment freely
What we offer
• A 4 - 6 month full-time internship at the cutting edge of AI and behavioral research
• A warm, open team that supports your growth and welcomes your ideas
• Real impact: the agents you build will be used by scientists around the world
• Collaboration with experts across software, science, UX, and sales
• A good laptop to work on throughout the internship
• Flexible working (hybrid)
• Internship compensation (market-conform)
Procedure
• Apply before May 31st
